Flin Setyadi – Some PUBG steam players overcome network problems in the form of high ping, especially in the South East Asia (SEA) region. Many tutorials recommend VPNs, but is there any other solution to fix high ping in PUBG steam?
Well, we have been found solution that you can try. This method Work in my Laptop, GL553VD using Wi-Fi 2,4GHz channel with 30Mbps Downloads and 10Mbps Uploads.
Maybe some of you think internet service providers are doing irresponsible things that result in this issue. We didn’t say it was wrong, but whatever the situation there’s should be a solution.
Several issue that you should inspect to fix high ping in Steam game, like PUBG for instance.

Unstable Network Caused PUBG High Ping
To solve this issue you should use LAN connection instead of Wi-Fi. However, we use laptop with Wi-Fi connection and get stable network. What we do? Setting router. Make transmitting power not too high (ex. 100%).
We use 40% transmit power and could cover entire house. Because if it’s set too high, make my network become unstable. You should adjust this level according how widely area your need.
Slow Internet
Slow internet issue come from your ISP package and causing PUBG high ping. But if your download speed is not maximum from specification (example, my ISP package is 30Mbps and We got maximum speed) then it’s from your router configuration.
If you not familiar with Network configuration on router, find somebody that could do this. Set your WLAN Channel Width auto (20/40 MHz), Mode 802.11 b/g/n.
If your router have 5GHz option, use it. That’s much better instead of 2,4GHz like we have.
Laptop / PC Network Configuration
Configuration on your device also have effect on PUBG steam high ping, with right setting could fix this issue. First, make sure your wireless network already have newest driver version.
To check this, Go to Device manager with windows search.
After that, Check your vendor wireless hardware. Select Network adapters > check the name of your wireless hardware. We have Intel(R) Dual Band Wireless-AC 7265.
After knowing it’s name, you can find the newest driver version of your wireless hardware on search engine like Google, Bing, Yandex, Yahoo etc. Install that newest driver version. If you not sure with this step, find someone else that understand with this.
If updating driver not yet fix high ping PUBG issue, then we suggest use DNS. This method give some effect to network connection become fast and stable.
Next, we recommend use DNS instead VPN. Why? We love Free Services, hehe. There’s so many DNS option you could choose, like Google, Cloudflare, OpenDNS and etc.
We are using Cloudflare DNS services, how to apply this? Go to Network & Internet Settings. Scroll to the bottom, click Change Adapter option.
After windows as shown above show, right-click on Wi-Fi and choose Properties. Then choose Internet Protocol Version 4 > Click Properties button.
Click Use the following DNS server addresses, then set
Preferred DNS server = 1.1.1.1
Alternate DNS server =1.0.0.1
After that click OK
Next, choose Internet Protocol Version 6 > Click Properties button. Click Use the following DNS server addresses, then set
Preferred DNS server = 2606:4700:4700::1111
Alternate DNS server = 2606:4700:4700::1001
After that click OK > OK
Finally configuration network on your PC / Laptop finish to Fix PUBG High Ping, next lets go to steam launcher.
Steam Setting to Fix PUBG High Ping
Based on my observation Steam App also affecting high ping on PUBG, so to fix it need adjust some setting. Several setting need to adjust are:
- In-Game
- Downloads
- Broadcasting
So let’s Launch Steam and go to setting menu. First, set your In-Game configuration on section ‘Server Browser Pings/ Minute‘. From my testing, lower the value affecting to get better ping in game. Yap, we use 500 value in this case.
Then, move to Downloads menu. If you want play with better ping, do not check ‘Allow downloads during gameplay‘ box. Because download absolutely make high ping while gameplay.
After that, open Broadcasting menu. If you don’t need it, just ‘disabled‘ this feature.
Alright, that’s all our setting in Steam Apps. Then let’s Play PUBG.
Game Setting to Fix PUBG High Ping
Certainly PUBG game setting also affecting your high ping, lets fix this. We are not really sure this setting have a big impact on high ping, but it’s really help mine.
That setting is on Replay section, named ‘Death Cam‘. When this setting Enable, we have unstable ping. Frequently jumping from 60ms to 300+ms. After disabled this feature, it’s more stable between 60ms to 90ms.
As Shown below, (sorry if it’s too small to see) we got 68ms on Singapore server, with 8,89 KB/s download and 59pkt/s 0%pkt loss. For upload, 3,8 KB/s 86pkt/s and 0%pkt loss.
